Crissie
SHELTER COORDINATOR
Hello!! Thank you for taking the time to read about me and all our amazing staff!
I have been a part of this community for a little over 30 years. I was blessed to raise my three amazing boys here in Gillette, Wyoming and now have 7 beautiful grandchildren being raised in our supportive community.
My career in social service began in 2006 when on a whim, I applied for an access and supervision position a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) part time to supplement my at home Media Services job. I have always had a heart for service and a passion for encouraging others. I quickly moved up from supervision of visits to Parenting Coordinator where I thoroughly enjoyed helping parents learn and practice more effective parenting skills. After CASA lost funding for that position, I moved into case management where I was able to attend court hearings and speak to the best interest of the children I represented. My heart became a bit overwhelmed, and I decided it was time to move on. I worked for DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation) for a short time. Providing and coaching clients in job skills. Then went out on a limb and got my CDL to work in the oilfield for the next 2 years. I loved the physical work and being outdoors during the summer, but the long cold winters proved too much for this sun-loving gal. I left the oilfield to go back into where my heart was, social services. I began working for the 6th Judicial District Child Support Authority in 2016. I enjoyed 10 years with them as a case manager, but I longed for the opportunity to get back to working with people heart to heart. The opportunity came when the position of shelter coordinator at GARF (Gillette Abuse Refuge Center) presented itself. I am soo thankful to be a part of this amazing organization. I have learned so much about the issues facing our community and about myself. I look forward to learning more and being able to share my knowledge and heart for the betterment of our clients and community.
Outside of work I live an abundant life with my husband and GARF volunteer, Mike, my beautiful momma, my 3 sons, and my 7 grands. I am actively involved in our church, Abundant Life. I am the Music Coordinator, lead worship, a member of our leadership team, teach Bible studies, and love to share my testimony.
